One-time National Football League Star Antonio Brown Files Not Guilty Plea in Attempted Murder Trial
Former National Football League wide receiver Antonio Brown is heading to Miami to confront an attempted murder allegation related to a shooting that occurred in May, as his attorney submitting a not guilty plea on his behalf.
Detention logs in Essex County, New Jersey, indicate that Brown was discharged on Tuesday morning for his move to Florida. Brown, one of the most popular figures in the NFL, had waived extradition to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was detained after being arrested in the city of Dubai.
Brown’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, stated in an email that he has previously lodged a formal not guilty response to the attempted murder accusation. Brown could be in a Miami courtroom as early as Wednesday early for a bond session, Eiglarsh stated.
According to his detention order, Brown is charged of seizing a pistol from a security employee after a star fighting bout in May and discharging two bullets at a person he had confronted with earlier. The reported target, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, stated to investigators that one of the bullets touched his throat.
Eiglarsh said that Brown was simply defending himself from Nantambu.
“The measures he was compelled to take were exclusively in defense against the alleged person’s violent conduct. Brown was targeted that night and behaved within his lawful right to defend himself,” Eiglarsh commented.
Brown was not right away detained because originally authorities did not recognize Nantambu as a victim. It wasn’t until subsequently in May that Nantambu delivered a complete testimony about the situation to officers and pointed out Brown as the shooter, the affidavit indicates.
Based on his digital posts, Brown had been living in Dubai for multiple weeks. In a message after the confrontation, Brown stated he was safeguarding himself because he was “attacked by several individuals who sought to take my valuables and inflict bodily injury to me.”
