Patriots Equal Longest Victory Run Since Brady Era with Triumph Against Jets
First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has recorded five scores in the present year
The New England Patriots tied their best victory streak since the Tom Brady era as they defeated AFC East opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL
Rookie Henderson was the standout with three TDs as the New England squad claimed an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since iconic QB Tom Brady's closing campaign with the team in 2019
QB Maye passed for 281 yards and a score, connecting on 25 of 34 passes
The win extends the Patriots lead at the top of the AFC East as they improved to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets bottom after dropping to two wins and eight losses
The visitors had taken the lead at their home field with QB Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to cap the Jets' opening drive
But the New England responded in the second period as the rookie scored two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back hauled in a throw from Maye at the rear of the end zone halfway into the third period to push the score to 21 to 7
"That was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," Maye commented on the rookie. "He aims to be outstanding."
Justin Fields connected with John Metchie in the latter part of the third period to close the gap for the Jets but Andy Borregales booted a two kicks in the final period as the Patriots wrapped up the triumph
